JSABuilder’s upload tool makes it easy!
We’ve all heard the saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” This concept, that a single image can express a complicated idea, is one that can be put to work in your JSAs, JHAs and AHAs.
Adding photographs to JSAs is an effective tool to engage employees. A carefully chosen picture not only illustrates the text, it can highlight and underscore safety principles to workers as they read JSAs.
How to do this:
Click the ‘Create Step’ button, or click on the pencil icon to the right of an existing step, underneath the column header labeled “Image” (For AHA formatted worksheets, the pencil icon is located to the right of the ‘RAC” column).
Scroll down to the end of the step, click in the box titles ‘Upload Image’, and select a file from your computer.
Note: Images uploaded to JSABuilder must be in either JPEG or PNG format. If your image is a different file type, try saving the file as a PDF, then opening it, selecting ‘Save As’, then choosing JPEG or PNG under ‘Save As Type’.
Once your JSA is complete, we recommend downloading it in Word format to check how your images appear in the JSA. If an image is too large, try resizing and re-uploading it, or adjusting the page breaks.
Where to find photos:
The easiest place to start is with your own organization! For instance, if a step in your JSA directs workers to don eye protection, simply snap a photo of a pair of goggles in your office’s PPE closet.
Another easy (and free!) resource is Microsoft Word. Just click on the ‘Clip Art’ feature, then type in a search term to find illustrations and photographs of what you’re looking for.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need any assistance uploading photos to your JSA or AHA.
